Gruppo Gamma's Vanguard, first introduced in 2014, is a retro-inspired design infused with contemporary touches - a re-imagination of what the dive watches used by frogmen in the '40s could have evolved into. The Vanguard has retained its distinctive character over the years and stayed faithful to the minimalist design of the earliest Gruppo Gamma timepieces.
The Vanguard features a brushed 316L stainless steel or CuSn8 bronze case with a large screw-lock signed crown protected by bolt-on crown guards. A bolt-on bronze case side guard is also incorporated into the left side of the case. The water resistant rating is 200 metres or 20 atmos.
The minimalistic 120-click unidirectional rotatable bezel has a pip marker with C3 Swiss Super-LumiNova and grips at 2, 6 and 10 o'clock.
The scratch-resistant low profile double-domed sapphire crystal is treated on the underside with an anti-reflective coating. It protects the 2-tone gradient color dial with markers filled with C3 Swiss Super-LumiNova. The chapter ring is finished in gunmetal and also features markers in C3 Swiss Super-LumiNova as well as drilled minute markers. The dial on the stainless steel variants has silver colored hour and minute hands and a red seconds hand, filled with C3 Swiss Super-LumiNova. Whilst the dial on the bronze variant has gold colored hour and minute hands and a red seconds hand, filled with C3 Swiss Super-LumiNova.
The Vanguard is powered by the tried and tested Swiss ETA 2824-2 automatic movement, which provides reliable and accurate timekeeping under the toughest circumstances.
A very comfortable premium Simona Di Stefano, handmade in Italy, leather strap is supplied with the watch in addition to a travel pouch and screwdriver for strap changing.
Meticulous attention to detail and uncompromising build quality have become the main hallmark of the Gruppo Gamma brand and the Vanguard is another exceptionally well-made timepiece from Gruppo Gamma.
